integrate ourselves as much as possible into the local scene. We ate some meals at the beach and we went to a place at Las Gatas and picked out our own red snapper from a tray of freshly caught fish, they prepared it any way we wanted, then brought it out with rice, lettuce, tortillas, salsas, lime, etc. And they had amazing pina coladas served in a glass milk bottle. We had mariachis there as well, so that dining experience was a highlight.

We didn't go on any side trips, we focused on becoming the best beach-loungers and town-goers we could be. We loved the fact that it was not touristy at all. We only saw maybe 2 or 3 other sets of gringos everyday. And, being Mexico, we were forced to use our Spanish a lot, which was great.
